Camera Options

Some events require specialist cameras.

Whether it’s filming underwater, in a confined space recording an explosion or strapped to an object lifted by a crane, there’s a camera suitable for the job.

For example we strapped a camera onto the spire of Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth so we could record the object being lifted off the ground and into place. A fixed remote camera recorded the same event from a tower crane while our cameraman picked off shots from another angle and another camera recorded from a helicopter. The footage was used on TV as well as in their corporate video.

Aerials: Aerial footage looks great when done well. Basically there are three options:

  • Record handheld in helicopters and planes. This is the cheapest solution but inevitably filming is not very smooth.
  • Record using a camera mount attached to the plane. This provides greater stability.
  • Hire the latest equipment with a camera mounted in the nose of the plane with a “gyro” stabilising device to make everything smooth. More expensive but impressive.

Lapse Camera

Cameras can be used to record events over a period of time either by continuous filming or by being programmed to record at set intervals. The speeded up footage always looks impressive. You may want digital time-lapse footage covering weeks, months and years of any given project. For this service we have teamed up with Site Eye a digital imaging company specialising in time-lapse photography of complex projects within the construction and media industry. Their unique high resolution, (HD) digital camera system for this work allows for multi-camera viewpoints and lower resolution uploads to web sites as the project progresses.
