Construction
We have been filming construction since 1989 for clients such as Carillion, Laing O’Rourke, John Laing, Alfred McAlpine, Mowlem, Hochtief, Hyder Consulting, Capita and Scott Wilson. Consequently we know how to behalf on site to maximise filming opportunities and gain co-operation from operatives and management. We risk assess every situation and have never been involved in an accident or near miss.
We can help companies win work, keep their sites safe, motivate and inform the workforce, record progress and produce a case study on a project on completion. These services can be produced individually or in sequence, where one project feeds off the last to achieve significant economies.
Site Inductions
We produce bespoke site inductions for all Laing O’Rourke’s construction sites in Wales and the West. The concept was developed jointly to produce presentations which explain to staff what is being built and why, before majoring on health, safety, environmental care and welfare. The project team deliver these messages directly with the support of graphics and video filmed on site. Each presentation is unique to each site. Depending on the size and length of the project the presentation is updated at key stages and includes a progression sequence. At the end of each job we produce a case study with comments from their client, end-users and project team.
Progress Filming
Record your project from Greenfield to completion with all the major stages recorded for posterity. We have fulfilled this task on many projects from the Docklands Light Rail extension under the Thames, London City Airport, Spinnaker Tower, various bridges and roads, hospitals, schools and defence establishments. We can organise lapse-camera filming for major events and remote specialist filming for challenging locations.
Wed-based Video Bulletins
Significant projects have a website to keep the public informed. Why not include a video update at key stages to report on progress and inform of future events? When co-ordinated with progress or site induction filming this is a very cost effective option.
End of Project Case Studies or Documentaries
When a project is complete, a case study or documentary recording its progress and successful delivery is a powerful communication tool. Many clients use these videos as part of an opening ceremony and distribute copies to those involved which in our experience generates a tremendous amount of goodwill among client’s representatives, partners and suppliers. It is also greatly appreciated by the project team as a record of their work. One Project Manager we worked with used a copy in his annual review.
Many clients hold annual review events for employees and suppliers and these videos are extremely useful on such occasions.
What we have found is that the video has multi-uses beyond being a record of achievement. Clients have found them useful at recruitment events, for induction and training. Some have used them as a submission for national awards, while others have incorporated them into talks to professional bodies.
For some clients we divide a video into smaller sections so that they can be used in presentations, as and when needed. Smaller sections have also been isolated for websites.
Induction into New Builds
Handing over a new building requires a lot of planning and training before occupiers move in.
Staff need to understand how systems operate. Things like fire procedures, security, telephone and communication systems, window cleaning and computer networks all have to be explained to those who will use them, with more knowledge for those who have to maintain them.
Add to this list specialist functions. Two projects we have worked on involved a new hospital in Frome which require training on things like bedhead services and lifting equipment, while a defence project for DARA involved aircraft maintenance equipment.
DVDs are a great way to record training information. You can produce a generic version to induct everyone into a site and add more detailed modules for those who need to know more.
Or, as an alternative, why to film the training which is going to happen anyway? The edited version will be a permanent refresher and it will act as an induction tool for new staff.
Bid Presentations
We tend to have long term relationships with clients and over time build up a useful library of footage which can be used in future productions. For some clients we produce complete bid videos or videos embedded within presentations. The material is often drawn from previously edited case studies or filmed specifically for the purpose.
Time is usually restricted in bid presentations but a short, well crafted video can show the panel past projects, introduce people who can’t attend in person and we have found that there is no stronger endorsement than the positive comments of a happy and contented client.
